The IRS wants more tax cash from Facebook, while Europe's tax collectors target US tech

American technology companies such as Facebook, Apple and Google have been channelling earnings through countries with lower corporate tax rates, such as Ireland. Picking out Apple, Nobel economist Joseph Stiglitz says "that's a fraud" - but even if it's completely legal, the $2 trillion of profits US that companies hold overseas is now a tempting target for tax collectors.
